COLUMNS
Columns
All columns produced by KGW-Isotherm are manufactured and tested
to standard 12492 "Devices with vacuum insulation". Each column
is subjected to an individual test at a temperature of 200° C.
All columns are manufactured with opposite viewing stripes as
standard. The types listed in the tables are only a selection
of our well-selled columns.
All columns including the standard types are produced to the costume's
order. Therefore modifications to the ground glass joints are
usually offered free of charge.
In addition to the types described here, other versions are available
on request at any time. With the aid of CAD we are able to send
you on request an offer with drawings.
Packed columns
with standard or spherical ground joints
Packed columns have excellent rectifying characteristics and ensure
high throughputs for small operating volume and low pressure drops.
A funnel for fixing of the packings is fused into the lower part
of the column. This avoids by-passing at the edges of the column.
When smaller packings are used, larger packings must first be
inserted in the funnel to avoid the smaller packings falling through
the aperture in the funnel. The aperture in the funnel guarantees
a free cross-section of at least 75 percent of the surface of
the ground joint.
Packed-columns with added ground in joints
Possible ground in joints are
- A) Conical ground joints NS 14/23 to NS 40/45
- B) Spherical ground joints S 13 to S 64
- C) Flange joints DN10 to DN 100

Vigreux columns
with standard or spherical ground joints
Vigreux-columns are far more suitable for vacuum applications
than packed columns, as the pressure difference is extremely low.
Compared to the packed columns, they have a very low rectifying
effect.
